History of teamWeather
teamWeather did not start with the same name it is using today. teamWeather use to be part of the Zenzel Technologies network as a separate web site providing simple weather information on a family owned and operated web site. Our web site was originally known as the Zenzel Family Weather Center. The Zenzel Family Weather Center was built in the late 90’s when Christopher David Zenzel started to get interest in building weather research and observation applications for his computer. He also loved photography of various weather conditions with his first Canon Digital EOS camera and posts the pictures online to his web site.
A lot has changed since the original applications of weather on the Internet by Christopher. Christopher has expanded his weather setup to include personal weather stations; live Internet weather radio feeds, and customized weather data interfaces on both the Internet and mobile devices such as the iPhone. A lot of Christopher’s setups are published on teamWeather.
teamWeather was started in 2008 by Christopher David Zenzel as a main web site to host weather information for Perkasie, Pennsylvania and also host some national weather pages. teamWeather gained is main web interface when Christopher activated his first wireless weather station, the Davis Vantage Pro 2, online for access by anybody on the Internet through both Weather Underground and teamWeather.com.
teamWeather’s founder Christopher has had a rich history of investigating, researching, processing, and publishing weather information. Christopher choose to use a blog setup for teamWeather using WordPress blogging software to keep his users informed of changes and weather details with a quick publishing option. Christopher also started to publish information to Twitter and other Internet-based social networking sites.
Christopher built most of his interfaces around digital and experimental National Weather Service feeds that have been proven to be more accurate than the National Weather Service’s “analog” feeds such as forecaster text and text-based observations. These new interfaces built by Christopher make teamWeather and their applications have the best and most accurate information on the Internet.
As part of Zenzel Technologies, Christopher started to build iPhone applications based on all the modules that teamWeather used for its web site displays. These iPhone applications envolved into iPad and iPod touch applications over the years and we have proven that we have the best support compared to other iPhone applications developed by larger companies. One of users who experienced a problem with our applications had a fix within 2 days after Apple immediately approved our applications in a quick fashion to fix user issues. The user was very thankful and we are very thankful that we can support our users and get great feedback from everybody about our support response time.
Dedication: Our First Weather Station
teamWeather’s first weather station was a Davis Weather Wizard station with the most basic sensors and was based on a wired setup. Christopher’s grandfather, Daniel Zenzel Sr., setup his weather station on a sunny day about 2 years before he passed away. This weather station pole has stayed in the ground and now hosts our new Vantage Pro 2 weather station. The original weather station has been saved and put into storage for now. The weather station was setup by Christopher’s grandfather within a day and we plan to always keep this weather station active in his remembrance. This weather station (even if it upgrades) will be always dedicated to the time he took to build our first weather station which begun the Zenzel weather center.
Contributors: Our Second Weather Station
Daniel Zenzel, Jr. contributed our secondary weather station, which is a Davis Vantage Pro 2. This weather station currently is at a sunrise location and is compared to our other weather station’s information to see how various locations in an area can cause different weather conditions. This weather station was setup in 2 days to help keep a redundant weather station for our primary as well as compare data when both weather stations our active.
Our Weather Setup

teamWeather Weather Station
We would love to tell you about our Weather Station setup here at teamWeather! We currently have two active weather stations with a live weather radio feed and Internet data feeds to power our web site and other various research we do at teamWeather. teamWeather uses only the best equipment and hardware when it comes to weather data collection and processing.
Perkasie, Pennsylvania and Surrounding Areas Weather Stations
Our weather stations are located at two different parts of our property. One is located at a location of sunrise and the other at a location of sunset. This will help us compare the data between the two locations and see the differences between various times of the day and how it factors into the weather prediction and forecasts. Both weather stations are Davis Vantage Pro 2 Plus hardware and they each upload to the Internet by using a USB data logger in two different consoles acting as two different serial ports on a Mac Mini.
Perkasie, Pennsylvania Sunset Camera
We are one of the few weather cameras in the Perkasie, Pennsylvania area. We don’t upload our weather camera to other web sites; however, we do offer the weather camera as a feed on our local web site. You can visit the Perkasie Weather page at any time to see our weather camera. When you click on the image it will expand to a larger size so you can see the detail of the sunset in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. This camera faces towards Souderton, Pennsylvania and the sunset in Hilltown Township.
Allentown, Pennsylvania Weather Radio Internet Broadcast
We currently rebroadcast the Allentown, Pennsylvania weather radio feed to Weather Underground for users all over the world to hear the current forecast, conditions, tide information, and much more for Northeastern Pennsylvania including the counties of Bucks, Montgomery, and Lehigh. This feed broadcasts twenty-four hours a day; however, teamWeather cannot guarantee uptime. This feed should not be used for replacing a weather radio.
teamWeather Personal Weather Station
teamWeather hosts a live weather station that can be accessed through a various number of ways including Weather Underground and our own web site. The teamWeather Weather Station is hosted on Weather Underground with a handle or identifier of KPAPERKA4. The weather station is located in the Perkasie section of Hilltown Township and is at an elevation of about 650 feet. The weather station is also known to be located on one of the highest points in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Why choose our weather station for your day-to-day readings? Since we are at one of the highest points in Bucks County the readings are very accurate for Perkasie, Silverdale, Sellersville, Souderton, and Hilltown (or Hilltown Township). Our ultraviolet index readings are also the most accurate for solar noon in the area.
Recently we added another weather station setup to teamWeather. Our new weather station can be identified on Weather Underground as KPAPERKA6. This weather station is located at the same elevation at 650 feet and is located in the back of our headquarters in Perkasie, Pennsylvania. This weather station gives rapid fire updates to both Weather Underground and teamWeather.com. This weather station is used as both a redundant weather station for our primary and also as a secondary to compare our weather station data between both locations. This weather station does get different values for things such as temperature because it is located at the Sunrise location of our location.
